Approved Training
Level 1Bach Foundation-approved level 1 courses provide a solid grounding in the remedies. Even if you already have some knowledge of the remedies you will benefit from the chance to take an in-depth look at the most commonly-used remedies, get a detailed overview of all the 38 remedies and learn how to use them in everyday situations for yourself, your family and friends. You will also learn a little about working with animals and plants.
There are different types of approved level 1 course so you can choose whichever meets your needs best. Certification in all cases is to the same level, and once you have completed any one of these courses you can move on to any approved level 2 course.
The Dr Edward Bach Foundation runs an approved Distance Learning Programme from the Bach Centre in England. This is certificated as a level 1 course and allows entry to any approved level 2 course. The course, currently available direct from the Bach Foundation in English only, allows you to train to level 1 standard from anywhere in the world. For more information and to book, click here.
Please do not contact the Bach Centre if you live in the USA and want to enrol on the DLP. Instead, contact the US BIEP coordinator or enrol via the US education web site. If you are in Australia you can enrol by contacting the Australian BIEP coordinator. And the same course is also available (in English only ) from The Kevala Centre.
Under licence from the Bach Foundation, some Bach Foundation Registered Pracitioners and Bach International Education Programme coordinators offer foreign-language versions of the Foundation's level 1 correspondence course. For details of courses in the following languages contact the appropriate person:
We hope that more languages will be added to this list in due course.
Finally, in Japan, Bach Holistic Kenkyukai offers its own Bach Foundation-approved Japanese-language correspondence course. This too is certificated as a level 1 course and allows entry to any approved level 2 course.
Bach International Education Programme (BIEP) training courses are taught by Bach Foundation Registered Practitioners. The BIEP level 1 runs over two consecutive days and is taught in a variety of venues including retreats, hotels and conference centres.
BIEP courses are coordinated and developed by A Nelson & Co, whose representatives in different parts of the world administer the courses. For more information on contacting national education offices in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, France, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Sweden, the UK, the USA and Venezuela see the official BIEP web site.
The BIEP aims to reach as many countries as possible and is working hard to do that. If your country isn't listed contact your main national distributor to see if there are any plans to offer Bach International Education Programme courses in your country - ask the main world distributor if you don't know who your main national distributor is.
Note that remedy distributors in different parts of the world may offer their own independent courses. These do NOT form part of the BIEP unless they are certificated by the BIEP.
In some areas of the world the Dr Edward Bach Foundation approves courses run by independent teachers or organisations. Independent approved courses take place in different venues, including local colleges and private premises. As with all approved level 1 courses students recieve a level 1 certificate and can go on to study at level 2.
You can contact the teachers direct to find out what is available.

Many other Bach Foundation Registered Practitioners teach their own independent courses that are not certifiated by the Foundation. If your course tutor is a registered practitioner he or she may be able to organise a local one-day validation course, to be taught by one of the above teachers, which will give you a level 1 certificate and allow you to join an approved level 2 course.
Homoeopaths and student homoeopaths in the UK can attend a three-day course, which is approved by the Dr Edward Bach Foundation as the equivalent of levels 1 and 2 combined. For further details please contact Tessa Jordan on 01473 728498 or see Tessa's website.
The Department of Post-Registration Nursing at the University of Hertfordshire runs a Bach Foundation-approved course for nurses and complementary therapists, which can form part of a pathway of study focusing on complementary therpaies. The course is called 'Practising with Bach Flower Remedies'. For more details of this course contact the University on 01707 285265.
Anglia Ruskin University runs a Bach-Foundation approved module as part of their BSc degree course in complementary medicine. This course will run for the first time in 2001. For more details call Frances Fewell on 01245 493131 x 4737.
Both the above courses are approved by the Foundation as the equivalent of a combined level 1, 2 and 3 course. Students successfully completing either of these courses can apply to join the Bach Foundation's International Register of Practitioners.
Don't forget to read about level 2 courses, practitioner training, correspondence courses and special animal courses. Or you may just want an uncertificated special interest course.
